STYROS 3R List

STYROS 3R Reversed Phase  Simulated Monolith™  Columns
for High Speed, High Performance Liquid Chromatography.

STYROS 3R Reversed Phase is the first Simulated Monolith polymeric column made of hard gel fully pervious polymeric media.

The unique macroporous structure of the bed provides maximum surface contact as well as uniform flow path, making it possible to run high speed, high-resolution separations without any mass transfer restrictions.

Unlike soft gel, Simulated Monolith™ columns can be used at high backpressures, reducing considerably the run time.

Typical linear flow rates are 700 to 1,800 cm/hr and above, compared to 140 cm/hr with soft gel.

Unlike Monolith, there are no limitations with Simulated Monolith™ columns. They are available in most sizes and configurations.

Higher practical speed and efficient use of the column is another advantage of such products.

About Hard Gel Fully Pervious Polymeric

Reversed phase chromatography with silica provides high resolving power but very limited stability due to the solubility of the matrix.

The separations are therefore limited to neutral pH’s for a limited number of runs.

Polymeric on the other hand have been used successfully to alleviate the issues of chemical instability associated with silica matrices and therefore have provided the possibility of using the full pH range for baseline separations.

Baseline separations can be achieved at 1,200 cm/hr on a narrow bore column of 2.1 mm ID at 60° C temperatures:

Separation of 1. Thiourea, 2. Benzyl alcohol, 3. Aniline, 4. Nitrobenzene, 5. Methyl Salicylate, 6. Toluene
 on a 2.1 x 100 mm STYROS™ 3R Simulated Monolith column. (Flow Rate: 0.7 ml/min or 1,200 cm/hr)

Separation of 6 Proteins  on a 4.6 x 50 mm STYROS™ 3R Simulated Monolith column.
(Flow Rate: 4 ml/min or 1,450 cm/hr)

Separation of 7 Peptides (1. Gly-Tyr, 2. Val-Tyr-Val, 3. Met enkephalin, 4. Leu enkephalin, 5. Angiotensin II, 6. Angiotensin III, 7. Angiotensin I)
on a 4.6 x 250 mm STYROS™ 3R Simulated Monolith column.
(Flow Rate: 1 ml/min or 360 cm/hr)

Separation of Benzoic acid and its derivatives on STYROS™ 3R Simulated Monolith column.
(See Application Note 49 and 50 for more detail)
